Organ Donation, Would you?
The British Medical Association has aired some new proposals to increase the number of organs donated in the UK. Currently up to 1,000 people die unnecessarily due to a huge shortage of organs. So what is it that makes us coil back in fear and mistrust when faced with the idea of offering our innards?Terminology seems to be a key factor in the negative promotion of organ donation. Words such as 'harvesting' and 'farming' are frequently used to describe the process of obtaining much-needed organs and the fear is that such phrases have created a nosedive in the signing of the donor form. But this needn't be the case.

Interesting food for thought. I don't know why but I feel really weary about promising my organs out after I'm 'done with them'. I think this feeling is shared by a large portion of the population, however I doubt those who desperately need transplants are among that number so I agree that more people should sign up and agree that morally the campaign to boost donors has it's heart in the right place - so to say ...
